Easter 2012

I'm beginning to think that nursing Gavin for 11-1/2 months didn't really seem to build up his immune system like I thought it would.  It seems like he always has a cold; and when Gavin has a cold, he uses his arm or shirt to constantly wipe his snot across his right cheek.  After several wipes, his upper lip and cheek begin to turn red and raw.  This is quite obvious in the all of the pictures taken during this time.  However, it didn't deter him from having a wonderful time painting eggs and searching for them the following day.

When Gavin awoke on Easter Sunday, he searched the house for his basket that the Easter Bunny had hidden.  He found it rather quickly and got right to exploring all of his goodies (the Easter Bunny might need to be a little craftier with his hiding spot next year).

Later that day, we went to Matt's parents' house for Gavin to do his annual Easter egg hunt.  He had so much fun searching for eggs that he didn't want to stop.  He insisted that there were more eggs still "hiding" even after we told him he had found them all.

Overall, we had another wonderful Easter and we are looking forward to it next year when we will have two sweet boys to enjoy the holiday with!

The Happiest Place on Earth

For Gavin's 3rd birthday, we took him to Disneyland for the first time.  Unfortunately, it was just before the opening of the new "Cars Land" which we know he would have loved.  However, we had a wonderful time regardless.

Daddy and Gavin
One of the first rides we went on was the Jungle Cruise.  Gavin loved riding in the boat through the "jungle" and seeing all of the wonderful sites.  I enjoyed the break my tired, pregnant body got after waiting in line forever.

Gavin also really enjoyed Tarzan's Treehouse.  For me, walking several flights of stairs resulted in a delightful leg cramp that caused me to walk with swagger for about ten minutes after.  Ugh...

The line for Pirates of the Caribbean was probably the longest we stood in all day (and we stood in some pretty long lines, let me tell you).  We snapped a great picture inside that was followed by a loud, "No flash photography" over the intercom.  Oops.  We truly loved the ride, with the exception of the dip.  Matt thought nothing of it, but it made my stomach flip-flop as it always has, and it scared Gavin.

The train was also a nice, relaxing ride we all enjoyed.  It's a great way to see most of the park and give our tired feet a break.

One of Gavin's favorite experience's of the day was going through Mickey's house and meeting the big Mouse himself.  Even though the wait to meet Mickey was about an hour, Gav was still super stoked when the moment arrived for him to meet one of his favorite characters.  He was especially impressed when Mickey gave him "knuckles."

Of course, a trip to Disneyland isn't complete without a visit to "It's a Small World."

Naturally, Gavin's favorite ride of the day was Autopia.  He loved cruising around the track with his Dad (even if their car did break down a few feet from the end and require maintenance to get it going again).  Overall, it was a wonderful day and one that I know made my sweet boy very happy!

Feeding the Ducks

We enjoy visiting one of our local ponds to feed the ducks and we decided it would be a fun, inexpensive thing to do one weekend.

When the ducks spotted us, they all started swimming our way

Gavin and Daddy

Gavin loved the funny feet on this duck!

We spotted a mommy watching over her egg

3 Years Old!!!

My sweet Gav,

Wow!  The past three years have flown by in the blink of an eye!  You are so incredibly intelligent and  loving; you make Dad and I so very proud.  These past three years have been the best three years of our lives.  You really make each day special and we are so thankful for you.  With the arrival of your little brother just a few months away, we are looking forward to seeing you in the new role of "big brother." We know you will be an amazing big brother and a wonderful role model.  This will be my last monthly milestone post for you, but I will continue to write about the milestones you achieve as you grow.  Here are just a few cute things about you this past month:

  • You threw up one morning and said it was because you had something in your throat.  You said, "I throwed up because there was something in my throat.  It was a frog or something."  Hmm...  Where do you get this stuff??
  • When we were in the backyard one day, you decided that you wanted to "tow" the trailer with your car.  So, you hooked it up with some chains and gave it a go.
  • You still fall asleep in the car pretty often and then Daddy or I will carry you into the house and lay you on the couch.  One particular day you fell asleep clutching the balloon you got during lunch and didn't let go even after being carried in and laid on the couch.  It was so cute.
  • We took a trip to the Balboa Pier and had a great time.  You got to ride a ferris wheel for the first time and you loved it!  You also got to ride the ferry for the first time and you really enjoyed that as well.

  • You love to help in the kitchen and I even bought you your very own chef's apron.  You are the cutest chef I've ever seen!
  • We took you to see "The Lorax" in theaters and you did much better this time (we took you to see "Cars 2" about a year ago and you fell asleep).  You sat through the entire movie and said you really enjoyed it.  It was very cute.

We love you so very much, Gav!  You are such an amazing kid and we are thankful for every day with you and every day to come.  We are excited for what the future holds for you.

We love you so much!!
